Let's democratize philanthropy. Helping people is a universal necessity, and not specific to any one sector of the community... After reading an article in New York Magazine about the ramifications of the Wall Street debacle, I knew I wanted to get involved. Notably, homeless shelters and soup kitchens were filling faster, and the typically large donations from Wall Street, were no longer available. Initially, I wasn’t sure how I could contribute. I quickly learned, however, that financial freedom is NOT a prerequisite for philanthropy. First, I started accepting invitations to fundraisers, and connecting with like-minded people. Next, I volunteered and gauged the needs of my community. Then I began using my social media outlets to advertise fundraisers and charities, which led to the idea of launching a website. Now, promoting philanthropy has become my passion. A little about me... I have a background in journalism, sales and marketing, and enough tenacity to bring my visualizations to fruition. The cavalier disregard for words--within the Internet matrix--makes me crave Shakespeare. I look forward to learning from you, and I think philanthropy is sexy.
